展示会ラッシュも一段落したので、前から気になっていたヤン・シュヴァンクマイエル展に行ってきました。ヤン・シュヴァンクマイエルはチェコを代表する映像作家。人形や粘土を使ったコマ送りのアニメーションが有名ですが、そのシュールで独特な作風は一度見たら忘れられないほど印象的です。一言で表現するなら後を引かない悪夢のようです。
15年程前に彼の「ファウスト」('94)を見たのが最初でしたが、それ以来虜に。その後に見た「Little Otik」('00) もかなり強烈でしたので興味のある方は是非。短編集もおすすめです。
そのシュヴァンクマイエルの立体やコラージュを集めた展示が現在都内２カ所で行われています。ひとつは
ラフォーレミュージアム原宿で開催中の「ヤン＆エヴァ シュヴァンクマイエル展」（〜9/19迄）。こちらは映画に使われたセットをはじめ、立体オブジェが多数見られます。エヴァ婦人の絵も展示してあります。もうひとつはThe Artcomplex Center of Tokyo (アートコンプレックス・センター)で行われている
「魔術★錬金術」（〜9/30迄）。こちらはヤン・シュヴァンクマイエル、マックス・エルンスト、上原木呂の三人を「シュルレアリスム＝魔術的芸術」という横串で連ねた合同展示になっています。こちらは平面のみですが、満足いく内容＆ボリュームでした。さらに写真OKなのが嬉しいです。
帰りに併設のカフェでコーヒーを飲んでいると横の壁を使ってシュヴァンクマイエルの「Alice」を上映していました！

I went to see two expositions of
Jan Švankmajer today, one at
Laroret Museum Harajuku and the other at
The Artcomplex Center of Tokyo in Yoyogi.
Jan Švankmajer is a Czech filmmaker and artist, known for his surreal stop motion animations made of clay and puppets. They are so impressive that you will never forget if you have seen them once, they are like humorous nightmares.
My first experience of Švankmajer's world was "Faust"('94) then I made myself a fan of him, later saw "Little Otik"('00) and some short films, they were all fantastic!
At Laroret Museum they are showing a number of works in 3D, such as movie sets, sculptures and objects using stuffed animals, bones and stones, also expose some drawings of his wife Eva. At The Artcomplex Center, the exposition is focused on three artists of surrealism, besides Švankmajer, Max Ernst and Kiro Uehara are showing their works mainly as collage and frottage. They were both satisfactory in the volume and the contents. I enjoyed them very much. I could even see the movie "Alice" at the café of The Artcomplex Center!

Jan Švankmajer es un artista checo, más conocido por sus animaciones de stop motion hechos con los muñecos y plastilina. Sus trabajos son tan excepcionales que casi no los puede olvidar si los ha visto alguna vez, son como pesadillas con un poquito de humor. Al primero he visto "Faust"('94) hace 15 años y me hecho fan de él, más tarde vi "Little Otik"('00) y unos cortos metrajes, son impresionantes todos.
En Laforet Museum está mostrando varias obras de 3D como los escenarios de pelícuras y objetos hechos con los animales desecados, huesos y piedras, también se puede ver los cuadros de su mujer Eva. En The Artcomplex Center, la exposición está enfocando a tres artistas importantes de surrealismo contemporáneo que son Švankmajer, Max Ernst y Kiro Uehara. Aquí son más cosas de 2D con las técnicas de collage y frottage. He pasado muy bien en las dos expos, las colecciones estaban satisfactorias en ambas la cantidad y el contenido. Incluso pudimos ver la pelícura de "Alice" en el café que está en The Artcomplex Center.
