OMNI Collection

 

 

 

OMNIシリーズは英単語 "omnibus（オムニバス）" からヒントを得ました。
omnibusとはいくつかの独立したストーリーが総括されてひとつになる、というような意味で主に映画や小説、楽曲などで使われる手法です。オムニバス映画で有名なところだと"Pulp Fiction ('94)"や"Amores perros ('00)"などがありますね。
ちなみにあとで知ったのですがラテン語圏では『乗り合いバス』の意味があり、（英語の'bus'は'omnibus'が語源だそうです）計らずしもスペイン語圏の方々から「どうしてジュエリーがバスなのか」という質問をよく受けます。
さて語源はさておき、どうしてオムニバスなのかというとひとつのジュエリーを複数の異素材で構成しているからです。このシリーズは3種類のネックレスからはじめたのですが、それぞれが３つのパート（シルバーチェーン、天然石、レザーまたは別種のチェーン）から成り立っていて腕に巻き付けると三連のブレスレットにもなります。３つが同じ長さで合わせてあるので三種の異素材が重なり合って見えるようになります。色は白（ホワイトオニキス）、緑（バリサイト）、黒（オニキス）の三色展開です。

I took the name "OMNI" from English word "omnibus", if you look up in the dictionary it explains 'an anthology of articles on a related subject or an anthology of the works of a single author'.  However in Japanese it is often used for films (probably 'anthology film' is more typical in English) such as "Pulp Fiction ('94)" or "Amores Perros ('00)", which consist of several different short stories tied together by a single theme, premise, or brief interlocking event.  

Later I found that it also means "collective vehicle", actually in Spanish it is more common with this meaning.  Indeed many of my Spanish speaker friends asked me "what this jewelry has to do with public transport?"...

I named them "OMNI" because it is composed of several materials.  I fist started with necklaces, which is made of three main parts, silver chain, natural stone and leather or different type of chain.  And there is a trick, you can wrap around this necklace to wear it as a three winds bracelet as well.   As each part has same length when you wear it on your wrist it can be seen as if they were three however it is all -in-one-piece.

There are three different models and three colors, white (white onyx), green (variscite) and black (onyx).

Simple type of bracelets (bottom left of 1st pic.) and earrings are made of same materials used in necklaces.

"OMNI", el nombre de esta serie viene de la palabra inglés "ómnibus", significa 'una antología de artículos sobre un tema o una antología de las obras de un solo autor.'  explica en el diccionario.  En Japón la palabra "omnibus" usa más para las películas tales como "Pulp Fiction ('94)" u "Amores Perros('00)", que consisten en varias historias cortas unidas por un solo tema, la premisa, o en un evento de enclavamiento breve.  

Luego me encontré con que tenía otra significa cual es "vehículo colectivo",  por lo que he visto en español es más común con este significado. De hecho muchos de mis amigos hispano/as me preguntaban "¿y que de esta joya tiene que ver con el transporte público?"...

Lo llamo "OMNI" porque está compuesto de varios materiales.  Lo más fácil de explicar son los collares con cual he empezado la serie, están compuestos de tres partes principales, cadena de plata, piedra natural y cuero o otro tipo de cadena. Es un collar pero hay un truco, se lo puede poner como una brazalete envolviendo tres veces a la muñeca.  Como cada una parte tiene mismo largo puede aparecer como si estuviese puesto tres brazaletes pero en realidad es una pieza entera.

Hay tres modelos diferentes y tres colores, blanco (ónix blanco), verde (variscita) y negro (Ónix).
Las pulseras sencillas (izquierda bajo de la 1ª foto) y los pendientes están realizados con los mismos materiales que he usado para collares.
